Each year, we meet with Quakers from throughout Pennsylvania at the Fall Quarterly Meeting and Family Gathering. This is a time to engage in fun and inspiring programming for children and adults as well as relax by the campfire, go on long hikes, and build enriching friendships. We have a vibrant Quarter with folks from many different generations. These include young people from the Greenwood Friends School, Elders, seasoned Quakers, folks from rural PA, and joyful young adults.
If you are looking for a way to deepen your spiritual life, meeting Friends from the Upper Susquehanna Quarter can bring joy and growth! Past adult led programs include: Making Kites, Hidden Bias Training, Spiritual Journaling, and a sharing of spiritual journeys. We work to balance experiential learning with discussion.
We have several groups of youth who roam the camp with some friendly adults. Our Middlings and High School group is led by Johanna Jackson.
Younger children spend time with Dorothy Habecker, a beloved teacher who taught Kindergarten at the Friends School for many years.
You can find our youth making toothpick creations, playing tennis, racing the adults on a hike, and spending good old fashioned time in the swamp.
The place is beautiful! We meet at Crystal Lake Camps, which is about a 2.5 hour drive from State College. It’s totally worth the drive.
Some of us camp; some stay warm inside cabins, and we all eat meals together in the dining hall.
